The Dell Latitude D520 uses a rather fast Dual-Core Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 CPU. As it uses two cores it will be better at performing multiple tasks at once. To get really amazing performance it will be better to buy a notebook with Quad-Core CPU like Dell Inspiron M531R.
The 512 MB of memory is a very low size which will not be enough to do almost any real work on your notebook. If you feel that the model has not enough amount of RAM for you, you can add additional RAM, up to 2 GB.
The Latitude D520 is produced with Intel GMA 950. This graphics card shows a very bad performance and is only suitable for simple tasks as video streaming and internet surfing.
